Clang is a Quick & Easy Rhyming Word Game
Included in the pack are:
400 specially selected Rhyming Words which are printed on 4 colour coded cards. Each colour represents a different level of difficulty.
The yellow and red cards are the easier levels and feature words chosen from the top 200 most commonly used words - often referred to as sight words.
The green and purple cards are not only harder to rhyme with but they have 2 words on each card so rhyming speed and visual perception skills are tested.
The word cards and their rhymes are family and school friendly - they can be used to help improve reading skills whilst having lots of fun.
Easy Instructions for 3 different games:
Classic Clang - be the quickest to say a rhyming word and slap it to claim the card - player with most cards wins. Can also be played in pairs or teams.
Showdown Clang - similar to Classic Clang but you want to be the first player without cards.
Chain Clang - say a rhyme and pass the card to the next player - they have to say a different rhyming word - if they can not think of one they keep the card - the player with the least number of cards is the winner. Great as a travel game.
Additional notes...
Although Clang has been designed with many mental/educational benefits in mind, it was also designed to be fun. Encourage players to blurt things out quickly - let players know it is ok to say something wrong. Everyone mispronounces or gets tongue-tied when they play Clang - that's a big part of the fun.
For Younger players - Clang is easy to adapt for those learning to read and can be used effectively in a one on one learning environment. A suggestion is to take the speed component out and practice reading aloud the word on the card and then encourage the calling out of a rhyme. Most importantly have fun.
